Friends,

Today, I join the nation in mourning the loss of former President Jimmy Carter, an exemplary humanitarian, leader, and inspiration to us all. I extend my condolences to President Carter’s family during this difficult time.

President Carter was unwavering in his faith, and it was a guiding principle in his service both in and out of the Oval Office. His achievements are as long as the life he lived: from the Camp David Accords and protecting the Alaskan wilderness in Congress to receiving the Nobel Peace Prize and selfless works with Habitat for Humanity.

For decades, Jimmy Carter has been an example of true American values and selflessness. We will forever remember him for his good work, kindness, and compassion.

Now, it is our job to put into action what we learned from President Carter and continue his mission to treat people with kindness and do good.

Sincerely,

Rep. Eric Swalwell
