Folks, – I want to take a moment to thank the person who inspired me to be a public servant: Senator Tom Carper, who is officially retiring after 23 years in the Senate.
For nearly 50 years, he gave his all to Delaware and this country. When I first met him, I was a young mom of two who just wanted to make my neighbors’ lives better. I ultimately applied for his internship program, and ended up working in his Wilmington office. The rest is history!
Because of Tom, I learned the power of using public service to make positive change for everyone. Not only is he a hard worker and colleague who gets the job done, but he is a role model and a friend.
I will miss Tom’s presence in Washington and in Delaware politics. But we will still feel his impact for generations to come.
So in honor of Senator Carper and all that he has done, will you take a moment to sign this card thanking him for his career in public service?
But if there’s one thing I learned from Senator Carper, it’s that he taught me to make my own legacy and path forward. Thank you, Tom.
All the best,
Lisa Blunt Rochester
