New Pennsylvania Project

Fellow activist,

I am reaching out to you personally today to ask for your re-commitment and support in sustaining our collective work in 2025 and beyond.

Power will be built in the struggle in 2025. Approaching the new year, I think about our staff who are community leaders from within the neighborhoods we center. As trusted messengers, they have engaged in thousands of meaningful conversations with their friends and neighbors around the importance of engaging in the democratic process. As a second chance organization that hires, coaches and mentors some staff members who are formerly incarcerated, or experiencing mental health issues, or are currently in recovery, I’m honored to lead a dedicated staff who are able to do meaningful and important work and earn a living wage with benefits. As we approach the new year, I reflect on all the Pennsylvanians I met on the ground whose lives quite literally have been changed knowing they are able to vote, that their voices matter, and their votes were counted.

In my travels across the Commonwealth, I often carry around a posterboard of one of my personal civil rights icons, civil rights activist and West Chester native, Bayard Rustin that states, “The proof that one truly believes is in action.” The New PA Project Education Fund is fully committed to year-round voter engagement and civic education across PA and will continue to take action in standing up for voting rights, and expanded access to the ballot to ensure Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth vote in every election, twice a year.

We are just beginning to witness the enduring impact our work will have on Pennsylvania for generations to come. Will you help sustain our critical work into next year by rushing $25 or whatever you can today?

Here is why that matters:

Engaging voters year-round: Your gift supports year-round voter engagement efforts across the Commonwealth, centering Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth to ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth.

Preparing for 2025: In 2025, PA will elect judges and justices in partisan elections and participate in nonpartisan judicial retention elections, including three PA Supreme Court seats, which will undoubtedly make national news and attract dark money funders like PA’s richest man, Jeffrey Yaas to disrupt our judicial races. We need to make sure that our communities do not lose hope and turnout in 2025 for our local, municipal, and judicial elections.

Defending against attacks on voting rights: Attacks on voting rights will only continue as we head into the critical local, municipal, and judicial elections next year. We must be prepared to go on the offensive and defend voting rights by pushing for a PA Voting Rights Act (VRA). A state VRA would ensure protections for historically disenfranchised communities who have been underrepresented and underserved in the Commonwealth throughout history.

We cannot sustain this work without your support. That is why I am personally asking you to chip in a $25 or more contribution today to help us hit our make-or-break year-end fundraising goal →

Thank you,

Kadida Kenner

The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) is a voting rights organization with a year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. NPP centers historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth in our work.
