Join us for a First Day Hike
Kick off the new year in the outdoors! Over a dozen Nebraska state parks will host guided First Day Hikes on Jan. 1, but you can also design your own hiking adventure.
It's a great chance to explore trails, snap photos, watch wildlife and participate in any planned activities, which could include a potluck, historical tours, horseback riding or winter art activities. Or, choose your own state park to hike at; all have great opportunities.
Prepare for your winter hike by dressing in layers, wearing a hat, bringing a water bottle and checking the forecast. Start a new tradition by inviting some friends.
And don't forget your 2025 park permit! Skip the lines and buy online, or purchase from the park office when you arrive.
