Dear John,
I wanted to share with you some updates from this week in Congress. Here are three things you need to know:
-
The House of Representatives recently passed the Heroes Act, a strong piece of legislation that seeks to provide funding for coronavirus testing and treatment, support for our state and local governments, relief for the U.S. Postal Service, hazard pay for front-line workers, aid for homeowners and renters, and expansion of SNAP and unemployment.
-
Unfortunately, the leadership in the Senate has decided to “pause” action on coronavirus relief. My colleagues and I disagree: Health has not paused, heartache has not paused, home and car payments have not paused, and so we will not pause our work for you.
-
For a moment of light in this dark time, I am asking you to nominate your heroes in the time of COVID. I have already received so many touching stories of everyday people stepping up for their communities, and I would love to hear yours. Nominate your COVID hero here →
You can visit my website for more information and updates. I am keeping all of you in my prayers and thoughts.
Sincerely,
Congressman Sanford Bishop
