Thank you for being a reader of The Hechinger Report. Behind each newsletter you receive are *education-obsessed* journalists, editors and operations staff who believe journalism drives meaningful change — spurring new legislation, improving schools and inspiring readers to engage with their local communities. We are:
-
18 journalists and editors who write newsletters on the must-know news in education, publish investigations that hold people in power to account and create tools to help students understand the continuously evolving world of higher education.
-
6 operations staffers who ensure the stories, newsletters and tools reach you and will continue to do so for years to come — making sure our nonprofit newsroom is financially viable, our reporters have the resources they need to cover the field and that our organization operates efficiently and productively.
Our team is always thinking about how we can better deliver our journalism to you, how we can connect you to the reporters you trust and how we can learn from your inquiries and comments. Noble Ingram, our audience editor, creates and analyzes all of our surveys, relaying what you share to our journalists. Marina Villeneuve, an investigative reporter, specializes in analyzing data that informs our reporting and creates charts and interactives that enhance our stories. Liz Willen, our editor in chief, is in your inbox weekly with a roundup of what’s happening and putting it all in context.
But driving a national newsroom is a big lift. As other (often large) outlets cut their education coverage, we’re working tirelessly to deliver education news because we know how critical education is to transforming lives.
As a nonprofit newsroom, we rely on fundraisers like this one to protect and sustain our journalism. We love what we do, and we love bringing it to you.
We'd love to raise another $40,000 by December 31st. If you can pitch in $35 today, we’ll make it!
