As Finance Director here at the California Democratic Party, I’ve been a part of a lot of conversations about how we move forward together as a party. Here’s what I know:

(1) We have a proven playbook on how to flip toss-up seats from red to blue here in California. In a tough night for Democrats at the national level, we flipped three seats, which meant that Democrats narrowed the GOP Majority in the U.S. House.

(2) We were able to win these critical races because we invested earlier than ever in our key districts. Way back in 2023 we started hiring organizers and opening regional offices. We didn’t wait for a few weeks before an election and rush to throw things together.

(3) But our “always-on” or “Forever Organizing” approach is much more expensive than a typical field strategy. And right now, we are still $9,817.33 short of our FEC Filing Deadline Target on December 31.

Will you rush a donation right now before we are required by law to report our fundraising numbers on December 31? How close we get to our target will have a big impact on the work that we can do in 2025 and beyond.

As Finance Director, I spent a lot of my time in conversations with Democrats. A lot of people feel burnt out from elections and aren’t sure about donating. I get it. I feel it too.

But simply we can’t let our disappointment drown out our accomplishments. Because supporters like you, John, believed in always-on organizing and funded our initiatives last election — we picked up seats and won hugely consequential races.

And now, we have the playbook that will allow us to retake the U.S. House and hold Donald Trump accountable. As President Joe Biden would say, this is our moment to keep the faith, and spread it.
