Besides the social and political upheavals worldwide, UNCF was forced to absorb the impact of the June 2023 decision to nix affirmative action in the college admissions process. What that means is that in the coming academic year we are anticipating financial aid requests from many more Black students and students of color.

We are getting thousands of applications from students who want a college education but just cannot afford it despite getting good grades and being accepted to the colleges they dream about. These students have financial needs, and we must help them to fill the financial gaps they face.
