This has been a year of monumental effort and change. We fought hard against a hostile media environment, a quarter billion dollars from a whacked-out Elon Musk, a tough political climate, and a flood of disinformation (looking at Musk again). Despite our best efforts, we came up just short.

Meanwhile, much of the traditional media caves to Trump’s bullying. Did you see ABC News pay Trump $15 million to settle a lawsuit he’d never have won? They see him as a threat and are kissing the ring. But Daily Kos never will. We’ve always called out his lies, bigotry, and chaos—and we always will. That’s the promise of this community: to stand firm in our values, no matter the pressure.

As the year ends, take time to recharge. Whatever brings you peace, I hope you make space for it. We faced setbacks, but the fight isn’t over.
