I’m going to be really honest about where we’re at right now.
Personally, I’m still grieving the devastation we’ve witnessed on October 7 and every day since – and deeply upset that this White House hasn’t done more end to this catastrophic war.
It’s allowed Netanyahu to abandon hostages and their loved ones, fueled intolerable suffering for families and children in Gaza, and paved the way for the far-right to pursue West Bank annexation and yet more horrors under Trump.
As a Biden voter and American-Israeli, I feel deeply let down. It's a nightmare, day after day.
I never want a Democratic president to fail to grasp the situation like this again.
We must forge a new generation of compassionate, clear-eyed political leadership that understands the situation on the ground and cannot be played by the Israeli right – and we have to get right-wing “pro-Israel” groups and their MAGA billionaires out of Democratic primaries.

Something else that’s concerning me: Across the board, liberal and progressive groups I’m speaking with have seen December donations slide off a cliff.
J Street’s online donations the past few days are down 50%.
People are justifiably burnt out after a ton of work and effort and a disastrous election result. Numb about what’s to come.
But if we step back, extremists at home and abroad will claim the field. The nightmare won’t end. Together, we have to have the tough conversations and win the battles to come as we stand up for a better way forward.
We need to drive the long-term work to get the next generation of leadership to understand that being pro-Israel does not mean backing the extreme tactics of this Israeli government – detrimental to the long term security of Israelis and Palestinians alike. That only a political solution can permanently disempower Hamas and end the terrors it has imparted on Israelis and Palestinians alike.
