December 29,2024
Over the past two years, my readers have been spoiled by my accurate predictions. But 2024 was a mezza mezza [ [link removed] ]. I will review my calls before proceeding to 2025:
The Stock Market will gain around 5%. Wrong. The S & P gained 26%.
Joe Biden will be the Democratic nominee. Wrong
Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee. Correct
The Democrats will retake the House. Wrong
The Republicans will retake the Senate. Correct
Joe Biden will win reelection. Wrong. But I still think if the Democrats had not forced him off the ballot, kept him in the basement where he belongs and never debated Trump – he would have won. And so does he. [ [link removed] ]
The Cleveland Browns will win the Super Bowl. Wrong. The Chiefs won again.
The Michigan Wolverines will be the national football champions. Correct
Both the UConn Men and UConn Women will make the Elite Eight. Correct. The Men won the National Championship and The Women lost a Final Four game to Iowa by two points.
The Steelers will be Super Bowl contenders. Correct. We are in the playoffs.
And now for 2025:
The Stock Market will gain 5%. America is on a roll, but the tech valuations are too high. They will correct but value stocks such as Pepsi and Verizon will hold their ground. Furthermore, the Federal Reserve Board artificially propped up stock market valuations – especially with their irresponsible September drop of the Fed Fund rate by 0.50% - to keep Trump out of office. It didn’t work so now the Fed should behave responsibly and raise rates to break the back of inflation. The bond market is already anticipating this with higher yields on long-term treasuries. This will further put downward pressure on the stock market.
President Trump’s popularity will be 50% of higher for the first time. Trump’s victory was so broad based that his previous detractors are groveling before him. He will actually have a honeymoon and be able to concentrate on inflation, illegal immigration and world peace (see predictions below).
Also many Americans are thankful that Trump has spared us eight years of total incompetence in which illegals on the public trough murder more women, boys who think they are girls slam volley balls into our daughters’ faces, freeloaders don’t pay their student loans in defiance of court orders, citizens who complain are labeled “domestic terrorists” and harassed by FBI, and global instability increases because our leaders are more interested in DEI and climate change rather than stopping nuclear weapons from becoming airborne. As one voter put it, “I want my country back.” She is about to get it back.
There will be cease fires in both the Ukraine and Israeli Wars. While President Trump has bragged he will end these wars on Day One, Biden and his team of Ivy League incompetents have so inanely projected weakness that the best Trump can do is start with ceasefires. To stop the war in Ukraine, he will have to make concessions that nobody – especially NATO – will like. And the Mideast has been a killing field for millennia. Simply stopping the killing would be a victory in itself. But if Trump can squeeze Iran enough that the unpopular Ayatollah is overthrown, the seeds of a lasting peace could be planted.
President Trump will succeed in deporting violent illegal immigrants. While a few liberal judges may try to stop this, Americans overwhelmingly want this to happen.
Inflation will decrease. President Trump will “drill baby drill” while decreasing regulations on energy producers and business in general. This will decrease gasoline prices – especially diesel (used by trucks) – allowing lowering transportation costs and therefore grocery prices. If the Fed has the sense to not lower the Fed Fund rate more or even increase it slightly, this will decrease inflation also.
The Supreme Court will allow the banning of transgender treatments. Tennessee passed a law prohibiting hormone treatments of transgender youth under 18 years of age (U.S. v. Skrmetti). While the tone of the questions by Supreme Court justices during oral arguments is not always an accurate predictor, there seems to be at least five votes to allow Tennessee’s law to stand.
The Steelers will win the Super Bowl. Chiefs, Bills, Eagles. Are you serious? It is time to put these quiche-eating tofu aficionados in their place. Football fans will note that the Steelers performance at the end of the season can be charitably called lackluster. What they do not realize is that the brilliant Tomlin is resting his stars to prevent injuries since a playoff spot is already guaranteed. Furthermore, he is lulling our hapless opponents into complacency so they will be crushed as this is part of God’s plan.
The Steelers will make the playoffs again. Again, this is part of God’s plan.
Penn State will win the National Title. Please see the comments above. This is western Pennsylvania. The players are toughened by cold weather while these southern whiners complain if the temperature is below 50°F (that means Fahrenheit in case any southern football fans are reading this article). George, Texas. Useless chokers. Boise State? Is that some sort of meditation goal? Notre Dame. Overrated for the umpteenth time.
The UConn Men will make the Elite Eight. Presently we are ranked 11th. But the savvy Coach Hurley will raise this team higher. It is unlikely we will get a Threepeat National Championship, but you never know.
The UConn Women will make the finals. Presently we are ranked 7th but Paige Bueckers is peaking and if Azzi Fudd can stay healthy, this team will just get stronger.
Happy New Year
