Dear John— A year ago, I became the executive director of GIFFORDS Law Center—and the past 12 months have been among the busiest of my life. 2024 has been a whirlwind of change and progress. This year, I’ve watched our team of attorneys challenge the gun lobby in tough cases around the country, and I’ve listened while our policy experts successfully advocated for gun safety laws in many states. I’ve seen our research team reach groundbreaking findings, and our Community Violence Intervention team support folks saving lives on the frontlines across the country. I’ve learned just how much of our work is only possible because of you. [ [link removed] ]We need your help to keep the fight for a safer America going in 2025. Please make a donation to GIFFORDS Law Center before the end of the year. But in this line of work, it’s easy to remember why we’re in this fight. I only need to look to America’s children, who have learned how to barricade classrooms before they’ve learned algebra. I look to the survivors, doctors, and teachers who have felt the pain of gun violence personally and continue to push for change. I look to our elected leaders, many of whom have dedicated their careers to ending this epidemic. But they’re not the only ones I look to for inspiration. Your commitment to the fight to save lives, and the commitment of our leader, Gabby Giffords, motivates me to push forward each and every day. [ [link removed] ]Your support is crucial. Can you help us reach our end of year goal? We need everyone who knows we can save lives from preventable gun violence in this country to stand together and stand up for commonsense gun laws. We’ve made so much progress to save lives this past year, with major new gun safety laws in states like Maine and Colorado. But we still have so much work left to do, and the gun lobby is fighting to roll back our achievements at every turn. Help us push back and push forward. Warm wishes, Emma PS: [ [link removed] ]See if your employer will match your gift to GIFFORDS Law Center before the end of the year. Your contribution can go TWICE as far! -- Emma Brown Executive Director GIFFORDS Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence
