I hope this email finds you well during this really tough moment we are living in right now. Unfortunately what makes dealing with the uncertainty and tragedy of the coronavirus pandemic even tougher, is knowing voter suppression efforts have not let up.
Just yesterday, President Donald Trump spread false information and lies on social media for the purpose of confusing and suppressing voters in Michigan and Nevada.
We need your help to raise funds as quickly as possible to be able to spread timely and accurate information on voting by mail to Black voters in both states. Can you make an emergency donation today?
John, the claims President Donald Trump made above are completely false. The truth is, in light of Covid-19, Michigan is sending out applications for registered voters to request absentee ballots in the Primary and General Elections. And Nevada already allows any voters to vote absentee by mail—the state is simply holding an all-mail election for the upcoming primary to keep voters safe.
Stop the Spread of Disinformation
As the general election in November nears we will see these targeted attacks to discourage Black voters from casting their ballots escalate. Through memes on social media, fake news, advertising and more, people in power will stop at nothing to try to dissuade Black voters from turning out.
