Dear Jack,

I heard something surprising the other day.

A conservative Christian talk show host debated a young liberal who was shocked to hear him say that he opposed gay marriage.

His response was surprise in return: “I’m a conservative and a Christian, what else would you think I believe?”

This was such a good illustration of something I think is one of the most dangerous threats to our cause: when Christians and conservatives cede the battlefield, the Left wins. When we stop the steady drumbeat of proclaiming our values, they disappear from civic life.

It’s been over 13 years since we fought for an Amendment to our State Constitution to establish marriage as the union of one man and one woman, banning same-sex marriage. While we were successful, the US Supreme Court reversed it 2 years later, because the country seemed to be resigned to the idea that “We’ve lost the cultural battle. We might as well give up on same-sex marriage.”

We came very close to the same sense of ultimate defeat on the issue of abortion as mainstream politicians viewed abortion as a “losing issue” and refusing to make it part of their platforms. But it was never a losing issue. Conservative Christians in our state believe, as they always have, in the Biblical principles of life, marriage, family and so much more.

The Left wants you to believe that their radical ideas have taken root in our state, that they will ultimately win the hearts and minds of our children, and that there’s nothing you can do about it.

But it’s not true! You and I have the opportunity—and the obligation—to stand for the truth, to proclaim Christ, and to engage our fellow believers in doing the same.

We cannot do this work without you, and I hope you will consider making a year-end donation to the North Carolina Values Coalition to make it possible.

If you support this important work, would you consider making your most generous gift to support NC Values before the year ends ([link removed]) ? You can also make a needed tax-deductible gift to our 501c3 sister organization, the NC Values Institute, here. ([link removed])

One of our generous donors has even pledged $20,000 as a “challenge gift,” matching dollar-for-dollar any donation you give before the end of 2024. Your gift today will be DOUBLED by this generous pledge!

Thank you for all you do to keep us at the tip of the spear in the battle for Christian values in our state.

Sincerely,

PS. Don’t forget, every donation you make to NC Values before the end of the year is MATCHED dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000. Your gift now will go twice as far ([link removed]) in proclaiming the values and ideas you and I stand for in the legislature, in the courts, and in the public square!
