Hello
there! My name is Jake Mellen and I am the Political Associate on
staff for the Forward Party. I joined the Forward movement in 2023 as
a volunteer in Colorado. Within a few weeks, I understood just how
important our work was and knew I had to do everything I could to help
it. It has been a privilege to meet with people who stepped up in 2024
to run for office and provide better leadership. Candidates are the
backbone of our movement, and I am looking further to diving into more
conversations in 2025!
What Went Well
The 2024
election was a monumental step for the Forward Party. We had organic
interest from over 1,000 candidates who signed up to run as a Forward
candidate or affiliate. We endorsed 125 candidates in the general
election and were able to publish some incredible cross-party slates
to promote our affiliates.
Lessons Learned
Despite
our success, there is a lot more work to be done. We learned that we
need to streamline our candidate recruitment pipeline and strengthen
our support system.
These are our thoughts from 2024, but we

highlight our top 10, along with the people who submitted them, in
early January as our New Years Resolutions.
2025 Projects
In 2025,
we will be updating & revising our candidates' process from intake
to first conversation through our initial communications outreach. We
will also work to increase & improve upon our phone and text
banking initiative, where we made over 200,000 contacts in the month
of October.
