Hi Friend, I’m reaching out today for two reasons.
First, I’d like to sincerely wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season and new year.
These moments of love and community are what will sustain us through challenging times ahead, so I hope you’re enjoying this time with family, friends, and neighbors.
Second, I’m asking you to make your first donation to NYCC to support the launch of our $15,000 year-end fundraising goal so we can jumpstart our 2025 campaigns to fight corporate power and win a livable New York. If you’re ready to give, please make a contribution here.
Every dollar you contribute will go toward organizing locally and statewide to fight alongside our neighbors on the frontlines of the housing and climate crises.
If you’re hesitant to make your first donation to New York Communities for Change, here’s why your contribution will make the biggest impact in the year to come and help us win a livable New York.
NYCC is uncompromising, Friend. We don’t settle for the bare minimum because our communities deserve more – we have a right to live in safe and healthy communities.
We define these communities as places with clean air, clean water, access to life-affirming public services, and homes for every New Yorker – no matter where we come from, how much we make, or what zip code we live in.
But the truth is that achieving this vision of a livable New York will be challenging in the years to come. The landlord lobby, fossil fuel companies, and billionaires have power behind corporate politicians who will gladly fight our movement tooth and nail.
Donald Trump will also double down on his mass deportation plan on Day 1 of his administration and most likely impact New Yorkers, including our members, by spreading fear and division.
The political landscape will be challenging next year, but the question we have to ask ourselves is: What can our state look like if we fight for each other and our right to live?
It can look like:
- Modern and safe green housing for all built by union labor that includes immigrants and formerly incarcerated people.
- Neighbors who defend each other from threats of deportation by knowing our rights and pushing our leaders to protect immigrant New Yorkers.
- Transitioning all buildings off of fossil fuels to ensure every New Yorker can have a livable future.
No matter which party or politician is in power, NYCC’s vision guides our strategy. We organize across neighborhoods and build power by developing community leaders, running member trainings, and fighting in the halls of power for our right to a livable future.
Whatever happens next, we’re staying the course toward a livable New York and inviting you to join us by supporting our 2025 campaign work with a year-end donation.
Can you make your first donation toward our $15,000 goal so we can hit the ground running next year?
As always, we’re grateful for your support.
In solidarity,
Olivia Leirer
