Friends —
This Friday is Harvey Milk Day — an annual celebration of the life and work of LGBTQIA+ rights activist, Harvey Milk — the first openly gay elected official in the history of the state of California.
Despite his brief career in politics — cut short by his assassination more than 4 decades ago — Milk’s work left an indelible mark on the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights and representation of the LGBTQIA+ community in politics.
In honor of this year’s Harvey Milk Day, join the WA Senate Democrats in their commitment to carry on his legacy and work by signing onto our pledge today→
Here in Washington, our State Legislature LGBTQ Caucus — which includes our members Sen. Emily Randall, Sen. Claire Wilson, Sen. Marko Liias, and Sen. Jamie Pederson — have worked hard to expand the rights of WA’s LGBTQIA+ population.
Since 2018 they’ve passed legislation to ban “conversion therapy”, ban the “panic defense” in LGBTQIA+ assault cases, and furthered the ability of same-sex couples to become parents.
But despite more LGBTQIA+ people serving in office than ever before, LGBTQIA+ Americans still make up only .1% of elected officials in the country.
Join us in honoring Harvey Milk’s legacy today by signing on to our pledge to build an American government representative of all its citizens.
Thank you for celebrating with us today!

🚨Governor Inslee has issued an order to Stay Home, Stay Healthy 🚨
We ask that you join us in following this order by staying inside except for essential activities so we can all do our part to flatten the curve. For the safety of our community, candidates, and members we have canceled all in-person events for the foreseeable future.
That means we will be relying entirely on grassroots supporters like you to ensure our fight for WA values does not lose momentum.
You can stay up to date with all COVID-19 (Coronavirus) developments by visiting the CDC website and the WA State Dept. of Health website. |
