As we near the end of the year, we wanted to share some highlights from 2024 with you.

But first, we are falling short of our critical year-end goal that would enable us to sustain our work in 2025 and beyond. Will you consider chipping in a MATCHED $25 contribution today and have DOUBLE the impact?

Since 2021, The New PA Project Education Fund, along with the affiliated New Pennsylvania Project, has assisted more than 48,000 Pennsylvanians in registering to vote and making their voices heard at the ballot box. This year alone, NPPEF and NPP assisted more than 13,000 Pennsylvanians in registering to vote, 74% of voters self-identified as belonging to a community of color.

We focused in key regions across the Commonwealth including: Philadelphia, Lancaster, Cumberland, Dauphin, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, Bucks, Northampton, Lehigh, Monroe, Berks, and Allegheny counties. And thanks to your support, we were able to expand into additional rural/exurban counties, including Centre, York, Lackawanna, Beaver, Lawrence, Luzerne, Lebanon and Erie counties.

And that’s not all. The NPPEF team also worked hard to protect the right to vote in PA. New PA Project Education Fund joined the ACLU of Pennsylvania, Public Interest Law Center, and other pro-voter organizations in a lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Department of State and Secretary of State Al Schmidt, in his formal capacity in Black Political Empowerment Project v. Schmidt to demand an end to the disqualification of mail-in ballots for inconsequential date errors. The Commonwealth Court ruled on August 30, 2024 ruled in favor of the pro-voter good government groups, ensuring incorrectly dated ballots would still be counted. Weeks later, by a 4-3 decision, the PA Supreme Court voided the PA Commonwealth Court’s ruling, citing lower court jurisdiction, and not on the merits of the underlying claim. On October 5th, the PA Supreme Court refused to hear New PA Project Education Fund v. Al Schmidt, King’s Bench case without reaching the merits.

In February, Why Courts Matter - PA campaign joined NPPEF. Why Courts Matter - Pennsylvania, is an advocacy project seeking to protect the independence of our state and federal courts, and educate the electorate about their importance.

Finally, with your help, we were able to organize and execute more than 200 community engagement events, maintained a staff of 65+ part-time and full-time community leaders, develop more than 50 partnerships with like-minded community organizations, and run robust engagement programs on college campuses and universities.

Creating change does not happen overnight. It takes strategic and consistent effort to move PA forward. We are proud of all that we have accomplished. Now, we need your help to keep up year-round voter engagement heading in 2025 and beyond.
