This year, the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) released a stunning report: the number of women who ran for Congress in 2024 was far less than it has been in previous election cycles.
As we near 2025, we cannot afford for this downward trend to continue. We cannot risk losing ground on all the progress women have made over the past century:

Let’s look at the numbers:

​​Since 2022, the number of women running for federal office is down by 25%. Executive offices at the state level: down by 73%. The number of women running for State legislature is down by 55.4% – and the numbers are even worse when you break it down by race…

Dangerous laws about women’s bodies are being crafted by rooms full of men across the country. We desperately need more women in those rooms.

It’s critical that we reverse this trend in the years to come. That’s why Her Bold Move is providing women candidates with the wide range of support they need to win their elections.

It’s far more challenging to run for office as a woman than it is for men. Women candidates are more likely to be subjected to sexual harassment, sexism, misogyny, double standards, and even death threats. Only a century ago, women couldn’t vote.
Only half a century ago, women couldn’t open their own credit cards.
