Building farm resilience to climate change [link removed]

In recent years, farmers in New Mexico have faced intensifying heat, drought, and wildfires due to climate change. The impacts have been challenging for local food supplies and farmers’ livelihoods. With support from AFSC, dozens of farmers are adapting to this new reality. They’re building cold frames and composting systems, installing solar panels, and adopting techniques to build resilience to extreme weather. They’re also part of a peer-to-peer-learning network, working together to strengthen sustainable, local agriculture. Read more. [link removed]

AFSC commends Biden’s death penalty commutations [link removed]
Good news! President Biden has commuted the death sentences of 37 people on federal death row. AFSC is one of many organizations that have been pressuring the White House to commute these sentences before President-elect Trump takes office. Thank you to everyone who has taken action with us! While we celebrate the news, AFSC continues pushing to end all death sentences. This means abolishing both the death penalty and any sentence that condemns people to die behind bars. Read more. IMMIGRANT RIGHTS
What you need to know about TPS under the Trump administration [link removed]
Today, more than 330,000 immigrants in the U.S. have Temporary Protected Status. TPS is a provision under which the government protects from deportation people from certain countries afflicted by natural disasters, war, or other dangerous conditions. During President-elect Trump’s last administration, he worked to end TPS. AFSC's history of peacebuilding in Palestine [link removed]
As in many parts of the world, AFSC began working in the Middle East in the wake of war and has stayed to help build justice and peace. In 1948, AFSC began administering relief for refugees in Gaza in response to a United Nations request. Since then, we have worked with Palestinians, Israelis, and the international community to realize a just and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis. Read more about our history.
