Friend,
I think I speak for all high school and college graduates across the country when I say we could have never predicted that our years of hard work would culminate during a global pandemic.
The cancellation of in-person commencement is a hard pill to swallow for all graduates. But for those of us from immigrant families, many of whom are first-generation graduates, we’re also missing out on a defining moment of celebration both for us and our families.
That’s why I’m so excited to be speaking at the #Immigrad virtual commencement ceremony this Saturday, May 23 — and I want to invite YOU to join me. Immigrant students from across the country will come together to commemorate our shared accomplishments, resiliency, and legacy. If you are one of these students — or want to help cheer on a new generation — we welcome you and your loved ones to join this special event.
Are you a first-, second-, or third-generation immigrant graduating from high school or college this year? Join us to celebrate your remarkable achievements!

Not a graduate? You can still attend this year’s #Immigrad commencement and cheer on our graduates!
As a DACA recipient, I know firsthand how stressful and anxiety-inducing the past few years have been. More than 700,000 of us, along with our loved ones, are currently waiting for the Supreme Court to issue its decision on DACA. This decision may be announced any week now. Our futures hang in the balance.
Throughout these immense challenges, we have persevered and accomplished extraordinary things. It’s so important that we take time to acknowledge and appreciate these achievements, and give our loved ones the chance to celebrate us too, especially during these unprecedented times.
This year, commencement may not look like what we imagined, but together we can lift each other up and hold an inspirational virtual graduation ceremony that is just as meaningful and powerful as any in-person event.
Join us for this special celebration! Attend the #Immigrad commencement ceremony this Saturday, May 23.
