Dear Friend,
Every year, as the year comes to a close, we like to recall some of
the
successes that we might otherwise forget in a tense and turbulent
world. Even as the danger of nuclear weapons use seemed to loom larger
than ever in 2024, we also saw a strong global pushback against
the nuclear threat by ICAN campaigners around the world.
This year, we saw:
- four new states parties to the UN treaty banning nuclear weapons,
meaning half of the countries in the world - representing over 2.5
billion people - have now joined the treaty;
- so many actions all around the world saying "No Money for Nuclear
Weapons";
- a stronger spotlight on the survivors of nuclear weapons use and
testing and their activism, including powerful media profiles and the
Nobel Peace Prize for Nihon Hidankyo,
and so much more. We put together a short list of some of our
favourite moments of collective action here:

Inspired by all we achieved together this year, we are putting ambitious plans in motion for
2025. Next year, we will make the 80th anniversary of the
atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki a top-line issue, honour the
children lost in the bombings, help update and share the science on
nuclear war, and more.
We need your support to make all of that happen. Donations
from generous individuals like you power our campaign to amplify this
message to governments, policymakers, and people everywhere.
Will you please chip in?

Together, we can make sure that next year becomes a rallying moment
that puts the pressure on our governments to bring about a safer,
nuclear-weapons-free future.
Thank you for your support,
Susi
