"I started supporting Equality Now because I was acquainted with the founder, Jessica Neuwirth, who was the friend of one of my close friends. Jessica was concerned that the human rights of women - and particularly their quest for equality - were not being adequately addressed, so she started this new organization. I trusted Jessica's vision and agreed to start donating to Equality Now. Subsequently, in the late 1990s, during one of my work trips to Kenya, I met Faiza Mohamed, who is the head of the Nairobi office. Faiza was an impressive person and compiled a newsletter on developments in FGM, which I found extremely informative and wanted to support. Faiza and I have become good friends, and she always gives me updates on Equality Now's impressive work in the African region."
