Happy Thursday, Fellow Democrats!
Keep reading, there’s important information below....
DEMOCRATIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTIONS
The Democrats of Indian River Executive Committee (DEC) believes in the Democratic ideals of social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. As the county arm of the Florida Democratic Party, we oversee all Democratic Party activities in Indian River County.
The DEC is an elected body comprised of members, called Precinct Captains, who act as neighborhood organizers to register voters, increase voter turnout and engage fellow Democrats in their precincts.
If you would like to become a Precinct Captain, you must qualify by filing a Candidate Oath with the Supervisor of Elections between June 8-12, 2020. Elections will be held at the December 17, 2020 Organizational DEC Meeting at which precinct captains and officers will be elected.
For more information please contact our DEC Chair, Adriana de Kanter, at [email protected]
WHAT ARE WE WORKING ON?
The Precinct Action Committee (PAC) met via Zoom again this week to discuss our phone banking progress and next steps.
We are wrapping up this week on training 100 volunteers on how to phone bank. Those diligent volunteers have made approximately 2,400 calls so far! Thank you volunteers, for your time, dedication and enthusiasm - you are greatly appreciated!
This week we examined texting options and determined the voters who will be in our next round of calls. We always base on our decisions on data from past elections in Indian River County, the current goals from the Florida Democratic Party and our targets for the November election.
If you are interested in making phone calls or texting, contact the office at [email protected]
SPEAKING OF DATA….
Our Data Team is in need of help! We need some dedicated data gurus to help with the work we will be doing over the summer months. If you are interested, please contact Jim St. Martin at [email protected]
DEMOCRATIC HEADQUARTERS STILL CLOSED
Our office is still officially closed to everyone. We will be checking for phone messages and mail only twice a week. If you are in need of anything, please do not come to the office. Instead you can email Stacey at [email protected]
Any and all in-person Democratic meetings that were previously scheduled are canceled or have moved to virtual meetings.
DEM CLUB SCHEDULES VIRTUAL MEETING
In order to continue its monthly meetings, the Democratic Club has planned its first virtual Zoom meeting for Wednesday, June 10th at 6 p.m. Zoom is very easy to use and will be a good vehicle to keep us energized and connected.
The Club will follow an agenda similar to those used at in-person meetings. Members will be able to socialize and a short business meeting will follow. In light of our new normal, a special segment will feature Club members relating their stories of how the pandemic and closed economy have and still are affecting them and their loved ones.
Happy, sad, humdrum, exciting, your experiences and perspectives are important. Anyone wishing to share their Covid-19 era stories can contact Claudia Martino via email ([email protected]) or phone (954-290-5661).
