Democrat Insurrection
The “defenders of democracy” are at it again. Having failed to kick Donald Trump off the ballot, put him in jail, defeat him in the election, and even assassinate him, they are now plotting a last-ditch effort to prevent congressional certification of the Electoral College votes.
Two left-wing lawyers, Evan Davis and David Schulte, just published an opinion piece making the case for Congress to reject the Electoral College vote and deny Donald Trump the presidency.
These lawyers are not idiots. Davis was the editor of the Columbia Law Review and served as president of the New York City Bar. Schulte was the editor of the Yale Law Journal and currently works as an investment banker in Chicago.
For those not familiar with the legal profession, becoming the editor of an Ivy League law review puts you among the crème de la crème of legal elites. Of course, they are also blinded by leftist ideology.
Their main argument against Donald Trump is the claim that he is disqualified from taking office by Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars anyone who “engages in insurrection” from holding federal office. We wrote at length about this issue earlier in the year.
A handful of leftist state officials, judges, and a very divided Colorado Supreme Court cited Section 3 in their attempts to ban Trump from the ballot. But the Supreme Court rejected that argument and ruled unanimously -- 9 to 0 -- to overturn the Colorado Supreme Court decision.
Not even one of the three left-wing justices thought there was any merit to this argument!
But don’t underestimate the totalitarian impulse of the movement that built an entire campaign around “saving our democracy” by banning people from the ballot and throwing them in jail, which is exactly what totalitarian regimes do.
Again, these two lawyers are not bizarre lunatics out of Berkeley. One of them is very close with Barack Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton. It’s unlikely this opinion piece would have appeared in a prominent Washington, D.C., media outlet without prominent people in the Democrat Party knowing about it.
A Big Deal
Here’s something else to consider. Half the country believes, as I do, that the 2020 election was not legitimately conducted. Several lawyers were asked by people close to Donald Trump to research what provisions the founders made to delay certification of a presidential election when you’re trying to prove the election involved widespread fraud.
These lawyers responded to their client’s request and offered a variety of options. What happened next? The left prosecuted those lawyers. They disbarred them for the “crime” of providing legal advice to a client. They destroyed them because of who the client was.
The message was clear: Anyone else who helps Donald Trump will have their careers destroyed, too.
These two leftist lawyers should be prosecuted for attempting to overturn the election results. They are literally saying that the election was invalid, that Kamala Harris should be installed as president, and that the votes of more than 77 million people should be invalidated.
So, this is a big deal. It shows you yet again how the times we are living through are not “normal times” and the disputes confronting us are not just “normal politics.” These are secular globalists, and their allies in Canada and Europe are trying to transform the entire Western world into something we won’t recognize and won’t want to defend.
There is nothing they are incapable of, including creating the conditions for political violence and the assassination of their political opponents.
The Big One
We explained yesterday why Donald Trump is talking about Greenland and the Panama Canal and what the connection to communist China is. I also noted how unprepared we are for a military confrontation with communist China. We just got another reminder.
Defense officials were astonished yesterday when communist China rolled out not one, but two new stealth warplanes using configurations never seen before. (Here and here.) The large size of one of the new “sixth generation” combat planes suggests it could be a medium to long-range bomber.
As we pointed out, communist China is getting ready for “the big one.” We had better get ready, too.
