Team: Have you seen this news?
Under Mayor Bass’s leadership, homicides have decreased more than 25% since 2022!
Not only that, since the Mayor worked with LAPD to form the Organized Retail Crimes Task Force, more than $60 million in stolen goods have been recovered and hundreds of arrests have been made.
The Mayor knows there is still more work to do to make L.A. safer — and that's exactly what she will continue to do, including taking action to grow the LAPD and work to make sure that people who commit crimes are held accountable for their actions. She's also working on preventing crime from happening in the first place to reduce violence in certain parts of the city. Together, we are creating the change we want to see in Los Angeles and making our streets safer.
In her first two years, Mayor Bass helped launch the new office of Community Safety to focus on crime prevention and to interrupt the cycle of violence before it plays out. She is also working with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department to implement a proven, community-based strategy that relies on deep relationship-building to combat violent crime.
All of this work shows that Mayor Bass is focused on making Los Angeles a safer place for all of us – and that work will continue in the new year.
