John,

My enduring memory of 2024 will be celebratory: The days I spent speaking with Washington DC residents about ranked choice voting, alongside energized volunteers working for their city to better represent everyone.

Our nation’s capital responded to ranked choice voting with an exultant YES: RCV won big and won everywhere, with more than 70% of the vote citywide and giant majorities in every precinct. Across the country that same day, voters in Portland, OR used ranked choice voting for the first time to elect their most politically balanced and diverse city council ever.

It’s been a remarkable year for FairVote, for the ranked choice voting movement, and for me, personally – getting to serve as FairVote’s CEO. This short video encapsulates the joy and optimism I feel as we head into 2025 together.

These are exciting results. Yet we know that winning meaningful reform takes years of work, all done by citizens taking time from their families and busy lives to collect signatures, hang signs along city intersections, and knock on doors to help persuade neighbors.

Our fellow citizens take this time because they know ranked choice voting makes their elections more meaningful, their representatives more responsive, and their government more functional.

Your investment makes this possible. Ranked choice voting has delivered results for voters in Alaska, Maine, and dozens of cities nationwide. It is a critical part of how we rebuild American democracy from the ground up. We will build off the energy and commitment of volunteers like those in Washington to expand RCV to millions more people in the months and years to come.

Support FairVote's Work

A republic – if you can keep it. This was Benjamin Franklin’s response outside the Constitutional Convention when citizens of this young nation asked what kind of government the delegates were crafting in Philadelphia.

We at FairVote – and so many of our fellow citizens – are working hard to keep our republic and strengthen it so it represents and responds to all of us. At the end of this consequential election year, we need your help, too: Would you please support our efforts with a generous end-of-year gift that not only helps us keep our republic, but make it stronger still?

Thank you for your support. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2025 from all of us at FairVote.
