We’ve hit 10% of our goal to raise $50,000 that will go directly towards our policy work during the legislative session. Please consider donating today to help us get over the finish line! [[link removed]]
Hey there John,
Greg here with a reminder that from now til the end of the year, Stewardship Utah has the chance to start 2025 strong, thanks to the generosity of a donor in our community, John Miller of Salt Lake City. Every donation will be matched up to $25,000. That means your $25 donation becomes $50 and so on, for a total of $50,000 that goes directly to our time at the legislative session, working to pass the impactful policy Stewardship Utah has developed for our land, air, water, and rights to vote . With only a few days left, please consider donating to our crucial work today!
While the end of the year is a time to look back and celebrate, to look forward in anticipation, and to gather together with loved ones, we in Utah often sit encased in poor air and our infamous inversions. We are leading out on tackling the air quality crisis and we are proud of the progress we have made together. However, in 2025, there is much to do, and we have big plans for the coming legislative session.

To combat our poor air quality, Stewardship Utah created Prosperity 2030, our model policy framework that achieves a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030 along the Wasatch Front. Since the merger, Prosperity has continued to evolve. Looking to the 2025 legislative session, we have several policy priorities that will advance our goals and pass legislation to reduce emissions without doing harm to communities most affected by air pollution or small businesses. Piper, our Air Quality Policy associate, is working to introduce the following in the upcoming session:
* Heavy-Duty Vehicles: Old heavy-duty vehicles make up a fraction of vehicles on the road but have an outsized impact on air pollution. We are working to address this.
* Halogens: In 2023, we passed H.B. 220, directing the Utah Division of Air Quality to develop an emissions reduction plan and state standard for bromine — a pollutant that worsens Utah’s wintertime inversions by up to 25% . Our 2025 bill will build on this by proposing an interim state standard for bromine and adopting the Division’s top recommendations for limiting their emissions.
* Trains: With our sponsors, we are looking to reduce pollution from freight switchers, a type of locomotive used to maneuver trains within railyards, because they are a significant overall contributor to our pollution problems and have an outsized impact on surrounding populations.
* Lawn Equipment: Landscaping equipment contributes more than you would think to our summertime ozone spikes. Our bill will require electric, zero-emission landscaping equipment on state property.
We have just 4 days left to take advantage of this match opportunity, can we count on your support to help us reach our goal of $50,000? [[link removed]]
Air quality affects us year-round, but Stewardship Utah has a real opportunity to change that during the legislative session. We ask for your support before the end of the year, doubling your impact and giving us the means to be at the capitol fighting for the land, air, and water for all in Utah. Please join us and help us raise $50,000 for Stewardship Utah’s work in the new year.
Thank you for your generosity,
