4 states — Virginia , New Jersey , Louisiana , and Mississippi — all have important legislative elections in 2025, and both New Jersey and Virginia will also hold gubernatorial elections.

Winning big in these races would shift the narrative of GOP dominance and give Democrats reason to celebrate heading into a pivotal 2026 election cycle.
