John – domestic workers’ livelihoods are profoundly at risk as we enter 2025.
Almost 70% of care received at home and in one’s community is funded through Medicaid, impacting more than a million direct care workers and over 70 million people who rely on Medicaid for essential care and services. But under a second Trump administration, healthcare programs like Medicaid are under direct threat.
We know the best defense is a good offense, and, at this critical moment, we are making it our number one priority to be ready to endure and lead.
We need to raise $20,000 before 2025, and every $1 donated right now will be matched by a generous donor up to $10,000.
In 2024, domestic workers achieved significant victories–from Georgia allocating nearly $120 million to increase care worker wages and reduce high family costs of direct care, to helping create new enforcement norms against wage theft in California with the award of a $5.5 million judgment against six residential care agencies.
These victories give us hope and, as an Alliance, our charge in the coming months extends beyond waging a powerful campaign against Medicaid cuts. With your support, we can:
With generations of resilience guiding us, enabling us to stand together, lifting us up, and pressing forward with strength, we are determined to make 2025 a year where domestic workers lose no ground in being respected, valued, and protected.
The path to economic, racial, and gender justice runs through the hands of domestic workers. With your support, you are also shaping a future where care is valued and justice is for all.
With hope,
The NDWA Team
