The Fight for Fair Courts with Sen. Elizabeth Warren

Senator Elizabeth Warren joined People For and coalition allies for a robust conversation on the fight for fair courts, through the end of the Biden administration and looking ahead to the fights we’ll face during Trump’s second term. Senator Warren reminded audience participants about the power the Senate Democrats have to confirm all pending Biden nominees and offered crucial insights into what the continued fight for fair courts means for the next four years.

A New Year and New Challenges

The reality is stark: Trump is preparing to take office again, and his allies are ready to roll out Project 2025 – a roadmap designed to dismantle our freedoms and lock in their extremist agenda. They’ll attack reproductive freedom, target LGBTQ+ families, suppress voting rights, and fill the courts with judges who will uphold their dangerous vision.

But if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that we’re never powerless in the face of these threats.

Because of supporters like you, People For the American Way is ready to confront these threats head-on. Your generosity will help us prepare for what’s coming. Together, we’ve built a movement that’s resilient, determined, and unafraid to stand up for what’s right.

We need you with us now more than ever. Chip in now and your donation to our end of year campaign will be MATCHED – doubling your impact in the fight to resist Trump and his dangerous agenda! >>

Remembering Norman Lear One Year Later

It has been just over a year since the passing of our founder, friend, and colleague Norman Lear. Somehow it feels like it was just yesterday, and at the same time it feels as if it’s been ages. Norman left us a great and inspiring legacy. He founded People For and spent the last four decades of his life supporting our mission to defend freedom, justice, and democracy, and build an America where basic rights and freedoms are upheld for all, not just the wealthy and the powerful.

Sleeping Bags Send a Message: Stay in and Confirm Judges!

Recently People For delivered sleeping bags to Democratic Senators with an urgent message: Work late. Work weekends. Confirm every judge.

It was a creative display of advocacy that demanded attention from senators. This coalition effort led by People For included our partners from Progressive Change Institute, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, National Women’s Law Center, Alliance For Justice, Indivisible, and Stand Up America. Together we will continue fighting for a judiciary that’s fair-minded and works in the best interest of all of us.

Right Wing Watch: Steve Bannon Aims to Make SCOTUS 'A 9-0 Court of Conservatives'

Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon spoke to a coalition of Christian nationalists and right-wing activists about their movement’s goals to deliver a “9-0 Court of Conservatives.” Bannon, who is fresh out of prison because of his refusal to comply with a subpoena from the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection, celebrated what he sees as conservatives on the verge of having a complete monopoly on the Supreme Court. He also told the audience that the Senate’s role is simply to confirm whoever Trump nominates.

As we face a growing wave of authoritarianism and anti-democratic forces, it has never been more critical to secure the future of our democracy and the progressive values that are under attack by right-wing extremists. One way to join this cause is through estate planning to protect the people and things you love, safeguard your assets, and secure a brighter future for our country.

Despite the value of planning, the process is often inaccessible, overwhelming, and expensive — especially to historically disenfranchised communities. That's why we are excited to announce our new partnership with FreeWill so that our supporters can create their wills, and plan their estates at NO cost to you.
