TELL THE SENATE Trump’s nominee to lead the IRS is a shill for billionaire
tax cheats. He once even called to abolish the IRS. We can’t let him be
confirmed. Sign the petition: Oppose Trump's nomination of Billy Long for
IRS Commissioner!

Hi,

Trump’s nominee to lead the IRS, Billy Long, would be an enormous gift to
billionaires.

Long is a former congressman who previously sought to abolish the IRS. He
has also co-sponsored bills to replace income taxes with a regressive 30%
national sales tax, a scheme that would crush working families.^1

Trump’s nominee would pave the way for rampant tax evasion by
millionaires, billionaires, and massive corporations. We can’t let Billy
Long be confirmed.

Billy Long’s troubling record speaks for itself. As a congressman, he
co-sponsored bills to abolish the IRS and replace it with a regressive
national sales tax. His post-congressional work has been in the
fraud-plagued tax credit industry.

The current IRS Commissioner has been making real progress: cracking down
on wealthy tax cheats, collecting over $1 billion from the ultra-rich, and
launching a free, direct filing program. Replacing him before his term
ends jeopardizes these gains and threatens to weaken the IRS just as it’s
in the midst of implementing critical reforms.

We must stop this attack on economic justice and defend the IRS from being
weaponized against hard-working Americans.
