John,
In less than a week 2025 will be here, whether we’re ready or not.
Personally, I’ve been feeling a little less ready than I’d like. When I think about the barrage of attacks on our basic rights and freedoms that we’re facing, frankly I’d rather crawl under the covers and hide than ring in the new year.
But then I talk to an NWLC lawyer about going to court to defend a pregnant woman who was denied abortion care. Or an NWLC researcher who just published groundbreaking research on the impact of private equity on child care costs (spoiler, it’s bad!)—research that will go on to inform new regulations and policies. I see students who are now protected from discrimination at school, or a pregnant worker who finally has the right to sit down without worrying about being fired.
And every time, it reminds me that, in fact, the work we are doing really matters . That every person who works with or supports the National Women’s Law Center is a badass fighter for gender justice—and that even when they’d rather crawl under the covers, badass advocates get up and keep fighting. I hope you’ll be a part of this work too — start your membership support of the National Women’s Law Center for $15 right now.

I joined NWLC the same month that the Supreme Court unjustly overturned Roe v. Wade . It was a devastating moment, and as we read story after story of women who have died after being denied abortion care, it’s clear that our fears were justified. But I also saw firsthand how immediately the Law Center went to work, looking for every opportunity to protect abortion rights at the state level, expand access wherever they could, and help abortion patients and supporters pay for legal expenses through the Abortion Access Legal Defense Fund.
No matter what fights come next, I am confident that NWLC will be ready to hit back in the courts, galvanize supporters in our communities, and channel every bit of our anger and determination straight into actions that will make the future a better, more equitable place for ALL. Help us reach our year-end goal with your gift right now. [[link removed]]
