Permanently affordable housing programs promise two critical things: (1) that homes will be affordable over time, and (2) that homeowners will build wealth. Legal agreements alone cannot keep those promises, and such accountability requires regular monitoring and stewardship – especially in times of economic turmoil. Designed for practitioners currently implementing a homeownership program with lasting affordability, this intermediate-level course will review the contractual mandates and administrative mechanisms of affordable housing program monitoring, enforcement, and stewardship, with emphasis on emerging challenges as a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
