In Gaza’s darkest hour, our solidarity helped save lives. We’ve sent aid trucks to Gaza, funded war crimes investigations, and amplified South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice with a 900,000-strong petition -- helping to push countries to intervene. The tireless work by Gaza’s brave journalists and human rights activists, movements and individuals across the world including Avaaz, culminated in an arrest warrant for Netanyahu.

Now, at kitchen tables and classrooms across Palestine, we're organising “freedom meetings” -- crowdsourcing a Freedom Charter for Palestine as a spark for a new people’s movement. Yet the horror is still unfolding in Gaza, and that is why next year we are doubling down on our Palestine effort to work for peace and justice.

In Sudan, we refused to let the world look away from a horrific conflict. We funded war crimes investigations using a cutting-edge combination of satellite imagery and eyewitnesses, to document the shocking violence against civilians -- leading to major news stories and government interventions, helping to trigger sanctions on the worst warlords.

But that's not all -- with allies, we uncovered a staggering truth: nearly half of Khartoum’s hospitals were damaged in 500 days of war. Together, we sounded the alarm to protect Sudan’s healthcare system and defend the lifelines of millions.

Avaazers fought tooth and nail across Europe and beyond to beat back the far right and remind citizens of what gets lost when we give in to division and intolerance.

We brought together Holocaust survivors calling on young people to vote -- ensuring their stories took over TV stations, newspapers, and social media. We investigated the far right’s ties to dictators, grabbed public attention with media stunts, and reached millions and millions with viral content.

Then, right after the elections, we brought survivors of regressive policies from Poland, Italy, and Hungary to Brussels to deliver a powerful warning to EU leaders: Don’t make deals with the far right. In meeting after meeting, these courageous voices moved politicians to tears!

And when everyone expected a far-right victory in France, we helped unite civil society groups, co-organised massive women's marches, and convinced progressive forces to unite -- and it worked: the far-right came third!

We delivered a million-strong petition directly to the President of the UN Biodiversity Summit in Colombia, igniting a wave of momentum for Indigenous land rights. Indigenous leaders whose work our community funded, actively engaged in the summit and shaped discussions on our deep interconnection with nature and the fight to protect life on Earth.

We propelled their message further, securing coverage in top global media. And we ensured they could be present at other pivotal meetings, where their fight for the future continues to inspire action!

Avaaz and allies pushed Gambian lawmakers to uphold a ban on female genital mutilation with our billboard making a splash -- an inspiring win for women’s rights!

In Kenya, together with local partners, we're helping change the law to make sextortion -- a form of sexual blackmail -- illegal.

In Afghanistan, we funded underground schools, enabling over a thousand girls to continue their education, despite the Taliban’s ban. Our support became a lifeline for them and continues to empower communities to dream and build brighter futures.

In a landmark decision, G20 leaders pledged to collaborate and tax the super-rich -- a pivotal step in the fight against global inequality. With bold, creative actions, Avaaz delivered a clear message to world leaders: the resources to save our people and planet exist; but it’s up to governments to direct them where they're most needed.

Thanks to tens of thousands of voices and incredible partners, we pushed Norway to suspend its deep-sea mining licenses -- a win for marine life and our planet!

We stood with impacted communities across the world in their fight against major fossil fuel projects. In Uganda and Tanzania, we are supporting the legal battle against the East African Crude Oil Pipeline; in Iraq, we helped showcase the horrific human health impact of BP’s gas flaring.

In Tanzania, we stood with Maasai communities to help protect their land and get back their voting rights -- and in Somalia, Avaaz members funded innovative water projects entirely run by, and for, local people. It helped to bring clean, affordable water to hundreds of homes!

2024 reminded us that hope isn’t passive -- it’s active, collective, and unstoppable.

Every petition signed, donation made, and story shared brought us closer to a fairer, more peaceful, and kinder world, one where we recognise our connection to each other and all life.

The pain in the world is immense, but so is our power when we stand together. We are a community that proves that change is possible when we rise as one.
