John, right now, families around the world are gathering to celebrate, share meals and make lasting memories. But for children like 10-year-old Natalina,* the holiday season is marked by a daily struggle with hunger.
In Northeast Uganda, Natalina walks to school with her youngest sister strapped to her back in hopes of getting just a single plate of posho, a type of cornmeal, and beans. Since the severe drought has made it harder for families to find food, this is often the only meal she can share with her sisters.
Natalina says she’s used to hunger – but she shouldn’t have to be.
Because of caring people like you, Save the Children is planting vegetable gardens in schools like Natalina’s, ensuring kids like her have enough food to give them the strength to stay in school and follow their dreams.
But hunger is only just part of the crisis. Around the globe, conflict, poverty and climate disasters intensify the struggles kids are facing every single day – making it even harder to secure enough food to stay healthy and focused in school. That’s why it’s never been more important for you to make a gift today, when it’ll go twice as far!
Hunger doesn’t take a break for the holidays. But together, we can help children overcome this daily struggle.
Thank you for everything you do to create a better world for children.
