For me, being part of this team for the last five years has been an honor, as we work together every day to tackle one of the greatest threats to our planet. My three-year-old daughter, Charlotte, tells people that her mommy “picks up trash so that the turtles don’t eat it.” She’s a little too young for the whole, “Actually sweetie, 5 Gyres is really focusing on upstream science to solutions and we work with policymakers, corporations, and passionate individuals to keep our seas and planet plastic free…” conversation, but hey, I’m still a hero in her eyes and that’s why I love this work.

So if you’re not donating to make yourself feel good, do it for Charlotte and the other kids who will inherit this gorgeous planet from us. They are counting on the heroes, like you, to make the world a better place for all.
