Dear members and supporters,
As we close out this year and prepare for the next, we are sharpening our role in caring for, protecting, and defending communities. Over the past few months, we’ve engaged in a rigorous assessment of the current political moment in deep consultation with our membership and allies.
Given the imminent authoritarian threat to frontline communities and the right-wing extremist ambition to roll back decades of progressive wins, we are pivoting strategically to meet the moment.
Please join us by making a contribution to GGJ today. This is a prime opportunity to support communities caught in the crosshairs of the authoritarian playbook.
We’ve already seen legislation targeting organizations, organizers, and funding, putting multiracial working-class communities at risk like never before.
In our planning for the first 100 days of the new administration, we know that we’ll need to move nimbly, connect our members to legal, financial, and technical resources, and explore ways to safeguard movement infrastructure. This includes building rapid response networks so members can coordinate in real-time around critical needs and share successful tactics.
We must also take every opportunity to block the bad and advance the good. In early 2025, we will launch the first phase of our divest-invest campaign with a care and protect agenda that will develop model legislation through municipal and state ordinances.
This includes expanding and strengthening care work, worker rights, social safety nets, mutual aid, mental health programs, and job creation, and investing in community-led disaster preparedness, recovery, and resilience. Our agenda prioritizes defending grassroots movements, preventing the militarization of communities, growing the breadth and scope of sanctuary cities, and withstanding attacks to reproductive, environmental, and climate protections.
At the same time, scaling the power of grassroots working class communities is more important than ever. To accomplish this, we need trained, conscious organizers who can take on much-needed base building efforts. Next year, we will hold a series of political education trainings, leading to the launch of our in-person Transformative Organizing School. Our school will skill up movements with the necessary tools to tackle the challenges ahead.
This moment compels us to action. Will you take action today by making a contribution to resource this work?
Together, we will defend our communities against authoritarianism, especially the most impacted among us: migrants, LGBTQ+ folks, women, femmes, and gender-expansive people, and climate-impacted people.
Our deepest gratitude to you for your support at this time!
In love and solidarity,
The GGJ Team |
