Indivisibles,

It’s been 51 days since Donald Trump clawed his way back into power. And
in that short time, he's made his agenda crystal clear: dismantle
democracy, consolidate power, and punish anyone who dares to stand in his
way.

Period.

In those 51 days, I’ve been thinking a lot about what this fight is going
to look like (if you’ve also spent the last 51 days thinking about it and
want to [ [link removed] ]cut to the chase and chip in a few bucks to fund the fight
ahead of us, click here -- otherwise, keep reading).

I won’t sugarcoat it. The stakes are higher this time around.

* We’ve got billionaire egomaniac Elon Musk pulling the strings on
Capitol Hill^1 (when not too busy on the phone with Vladimir
Putin^2).
* Donald Trump and Stephen Miller have promised the “largest deportation
operation in American history,”^3 which will mean tearing families
apart and targeting immigrant communities.
* We’re staring down round two of MAGA’s attacks on the Affordable Care
Act, its push to gut workers’ protections, its continued war on
reproductive freedom, and its plans to double-down on massive
corporate tax giveaways -- shoveling billions to billionaires and
giant corporations while leaving working families to struggle.
* Trump and his handlers are pushing unqualified extremists for key
roles, like Pete Hegseth, who’s facing sexual assault allegations;^4
Kash Patel, a Trump loyalist who’s openly vowed to use the FBI to
target political enemies;^5 Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaxxer
conspiracy theorist to oversee public health;^6 and Linda McMahon, who
allegedly enabled child sexual abuse during her tenure at WWE,
nominated to oversee our children's education.^7

This is the MAGA circus coming to town -- a coalition of grifters, chaos
agents, and unqualified yes-men. And this is their plan: running this
country into the ground with their Project 2025 vision of the rich getting
richer, the powerful getting more power, and the rest of us fighting for
scraps.

If we let them.

Resistance Alone Isn't Enough

In 2017, resistance meant standing up to Trump’s cruelty and blocking his
worst policies. It meant flipping the House in 2018 and sending Trump
packing in 2020. We were playing defense then.

This time, defense won’t cut it. Resistance isn’t enough.

In 2025, the fight is about defiance -- about refusing to let Trump
consolidate power, refusing to let his agenda crush our communities, and
refusing to give up on the democracy we’re fighting to protect.

Defiance means exposing the cruelty of every policy, the extremism of
every nominee, and the consequences of every MAGA scheme. It means
standing in Trump’s way, staring down his authoritarian agenda, and
building a movement big enough to take him and all of MAGA down.

If you’ve read the new Indivisible Guide, you know that we have a plan to
do just that.

But we’ve also got to talk about elections. Because defiance also means
taking back power where we can -- flipping seats, winning elections, and
making sure Trumpism doesn’t stand a chance.

Defiance at the Ballot Box

Trust me, I know it seems wild to be talking about elections when we just
barely survived the last one -- but every race ahead of us is a chance to
block Trump’s agenda, protect democracy, and build momentum for 2026.

So, I’m going to tell you more about the races that we’re tracking (and
yes, I’m going to ask you to [ [link removed] ]chip in to fund our work to win in 2025,
2026, and beyond).

Here’s what’s at stake:

* Wisconsin’s Liberal Supreme Court Majority (96 days away): Wisconsin’s
Supreme Court is one of the most consequential battlegrounds in the
nation. Liberal Judge Susan Crawford is running to replace retiring
Justice Ann Walsh Bradley. If Crawford wins, the court’s 4-3 liberal
majority will remain intact. If MAGA-backed conservative Brad Schimel
prevails, the court would flip back to conservative control, with
whoever wins in April serving a 10-year term. And make no mistake:
abortion access, voting rights, legislative maps, and collective
bargaining rights are all on the ballot.
* Two House Seats in Florida (96 days away): On April 1, Floridians will
vote in special elections for the 1st and 6th Congressional Districts.
These seats, vacated by MAGA extremists Matt Gaetz and Michael Waltz,
are deep red but represent a chance to chip away at Trump’s razor-thin
House majority.
* Elise Stefanik’s Seat in NY-21 (Date TBD): Stefanik’s departure for
Trump’s cabinet opens a battle for a key district in upstate New York.
It will be an uphill fight, but Indivisibles in NY-21 are ready for
it. This is a chance to flip a seat and prove that MAGA’s grip isn’t
inevitable.
* Virginia and New Jersey State Elections (313 days away): In November,
voters in Virginia and New Jersey will decide the future of their
state legislatures and who will serve as their next governors. These
races will set the tone heading into the 2026 midterms -- and we want
to be sure that message is loud and clear.
* The Midterms (677 days away): This is the big one (obviously).
Republicans hold a 53-47 advantage in the Senate. That means, in 2026,
we’ve got to defend the 13 seats currently held by Democrats and flip
4 seats in Republican control (here’s looking at you, Susan Collins).
It’s a tough map. And in the House, Republicans’ five-seat majority is
paper-thin (and might be thinner by the midterms). Every district we
win could bring us closer to reclaiming the chamber and having new
power to stop Trump’s agenda in 2027.

Defiance Starts Now

None of the work to win elections in 2025 or 2026 is a substitute for
fighting back against what Trump has planned for day one. But these races
in Wisconsin, Florida, New York, and beyond are essential to thwarting
MAGA’s full authoritarian agenda. We’ve got to do both -- [ [link removed] ]and doing
both means ensuring we have the resources to act decisively and invest
early.

This is the part where I peel back the curtain a bit.

Right now, I’m making decisions about which elections we can target first,
how much we can invest early, and where we can have the biggest impact.
And here’s the truth: every dollar raised means more pressure on MAGA,
more resources for Indivisible groups on the ground, and more voter
outreach to build momentum in these critical races. [ [link removed] ]The earlier you
invest, the more I can say yes to right now -- yes to big, bold plans that
are critical to fighting back.

Those big, bold plans include:

* Launching Neighbor2Neighbor in Wisconsin, Florida, and New York
immediately -- our groundbreaking
canvassing-meets-relational-organizing tool that connects communities
and starts voter conversations as early as January.
* Expanding our reach to bring in newly activated folks looking for a
strategy by doubling down on our advertising programs -- and getting
those folks plugged into the local Indivisible groups doing the work
to win on their home turf.
* Supercharging our texting, phonebanking, and postcarding programs to
let regular people from across the country plug into these must-win
races, amplifying the efforts of local folks knocking on doors.
* Holding vulnerable House and Senate Republicans accountable every time
they back Trump’s MAGA agenda. Every unpopular vote, every harmful
policy -- they’ll pay the political price, and we’ll make sure voters
in their districts and states know it.

Also, a little real-talk: I want to launch our campaign to defeat Susan
Collins before she has a chance to (once again) whine about being “very
concerned” while at the same time voting to rubber-stamp MAGA’s agenda
every chance she gets.

None of these plans are hypothetical -- they’re actionable, ready to go,
and essential to winning in 2025 and 2026. But whether they happen and how
big they happen depends on whether we can fund them right now ([ [link removed] ]which
depends on support from people like you).

It’s that simple.

This is the fight of our lives. It’s going to take all of us working
together to defy Trump and win.

And that fight starts now.

Let’s get to work.

In defiance (and solidarity),
Sarah Dohl
