The United States hasn’t raised the minimum wage in over 10 years.
You know what hasn’t stayed the same since 2009? Rent costs. Food costs. Health care costs. Working families face a higher cost of living every year, and they deserve a wage that reflects that reality.
Look: Everyone deserves a living wage. Especially in the age of COVID-19, we can see that many of the jobs that do pay minimum wage are critical to the functioning of our society.
But because we have refused to acknowledge the value of their labor, countless working-class families have to stack multiple jobs that account for far more than 40 hours a week just to get by. And as time goes on, that only gets harder.
