This pandemic has made life difficult for us all, but it has had the harshest impact on vulnerable women and children, who are experiencing increased levels of violence all around the world. Their stories are a lot like Ruby's.*
Ruby was 16 years old when she was promised a good job, but instead was trafficked 400 miles from her home in the Philippines. Her traffickers sexually exploited her online until she was rescued by IJM and local authorities.
This horrific form of violence is called cybersex trafficking, and with lockdowns driving people online, authorities have marked a rise in this kind of exploitation, especially of young children from places like the Philippines.

Reports from the Department of Justice Office of Cybercrime show that online exploitation case referrals in the Philippines quadrupled from March 2019 to March 2020. More children are at risk right now. With you, we can act swiftly to send rescue for kids just like Ruby.
