Dear John,

While the world is focusing on the pandemic plaguing us, the Trump
Administration is using it as cover to put public lands in Colorado at risk.

The Bureau of Land Management is pushing forward with its attempt to sell off
public land in Colorado to Big Oil. The fossil fuel extraction on this land
could cause irreparable harm to the bald eagle. Regularly found throughout
Colorado, our nation's bird can often be seen near large reservoirs and rivers
but will likely be forced from their nests. The sale could also cause
irreversible harm to the beauty of Colorado’s natural land.

Do not allow Trump’s Administration to move forward with the June 2020 lease
sale. Help us stop it.

Tell the BLM: Stop all public land leasing until the pandemic is over!

In the proposed land lease sale, the Trump Administration has plans to put
67,000 acres of public land in Colorado in the hands of Big Oil.

If this sale of public land happens, the fracking techniques that Big Oil plans
on using will cause irrevocable harm to the environment. The lands at risk are
home to various wildlife species -- including bald eagles, elk, mule deer,
pronghorn, waterfowl, and ferruginous hawks. Their habitats will be destroyed.

Furthermore, the water extracted by fracking has the potential to be
radioactive. Not only can this cause harm to the wildlife and natural beauty of
Colorado, it also poses a threat to the local communities. Not to mention,
fracking has shown to create an increase in earthquakes, upsetting the
ecosystem. Local earthquakes can cause landslides, avalanches, severe erosion,
and destruction of habitats.

Help us show the BLM the severity of damage they can cause by pushing the lease
sale forward.

Push the BLM to stop the lease sale of public lands and keep Big Oil away from
our wildlife!

Since the Bureau of Land Management has decided to move forward with its
decision during a global pandemic, the most impacted people have been forced out
of the decision-making process. The only way for the people to share their
concern is by commenting online and hoping their voices will be heard.

However, since many Indigenous communities in Colorado have limited access to
reliable internet, their voices will be effectively cut out -- even though their
communities would be disproportionately at risk from new fossil fuel projects.
The Trump Administration has chosen to overlook the statistics that less than
12% of Indigenous people in Colorado have access to broadband internet. By
holding virtual public meetings to push the agenda forward, Indigenous people’s
voices are being forced out -- silenced by a corrupt process. And the only ones
with anything to gain are the Trump Administration and Big Oil.

Each person in Colorado should have the opportunity to have their voice heard.
By forcing the BLM to delay the leasing process until after the pandemic,
Coloradoans can have their platform to fight for their community. They owe it to
the people of Colorado, but we cannot do it without people like you.

Tell the Bureau of Land Management: We do NOT want our public land sold to Big
Oil! Put Colorado’s wellbeing first.
