I wanted to take a few minutes to wish you and your family a Merry and Blessed Christmas!
Many of you will likely “mass delete” a host of emails sent to you this day. If this email ends up being a casualty in that deletion process – allowing you to spend more time with your family – then we are more than fine with that 😊
However, if you are taking the time to read this, I just want to share a few quick thoughts:
Merry Christmas from me and my family – and from the Frontline ministry – to you and yours!
We celebrate Christmas not because it is a nice, neat story. We don’t even celebrate because of “God’s love” or simply because of the birth of Christ himself. We celebrate because of the significance of our God taking on human flesh as part of the redemptive story whereby he can draw individual souls to Himself, restore a fallen world, and destroy evil once and for all. It is an event of such profound significance on its own and because of the magnitude of what it means for you, humanity, and the plan God has laid out since before the dawn of time.
The trite phrase of “Jesus is the reason for the season” falls so short. “Jesus is the reason for… everything” – he is your Hope, your Redeemer, your Savior, and so much more. As an organization, we want to be distinctly Christian and obsessed with Jesus and making Him known. If you, on this Christmas Day, do not know Him, I would love to talk to you about Him.
This time of year is one of sentiment and idealism. If your wife, like mine, has ever made you watch a Hallmark Christmas movie, you have likely seen an over-the-top message on the importance of family that encourages you to cast aside all dreams, ambition, and worldly concern. But, none of those movies show how someone handles the trials of the New Year – what happens after the “magical season.” What I want to urge all of us to do is to truly treasure our families year-round. God gives each of us a calling, and we are to do that with all our might. Yet, we have a crisis in this country of children who realize that they are a secondary priority to their parents. I know, for me, that I have all-too-often been guilty of not giving my children my full attention. May the Lord convict all of us of our failures in this regard and set us on a right path moving forward.
To that end, I wish you a Merry Christmas and treasured celebration. May the God who was born for you, died for you, and conquered death for you comfort you and fill you with joy like never before this Christmas and beyond!
