Stemming the spread of coronavirus in Nottingham
**A message from City Council Deputy Leader Cllr Sally Longford:**
sally longford
Coronavirus is still very prevalent in the UK and the advice is still very much stay at home as much as you can and continue with frequent hand washing. For people who do become unwell, Im really pleased to see that community testing is now being rolled out more widely - this will help control and contain local outbreaks.
Symptoms to look out for are a high temperature, a new, persistent cough and loss or change in sense of smell or taste. If you or a family member do become unwell and suspect you may have the virus please visit Public Health England: Coronavirus [ [link removed] ] for advice on what do, looking after yourself and how to get a test.
If you are self-isolating in Nottingham and do not have friends or family locally who can offer support with food shopping and collecting medicines, then please do contact our Customer Hub 0115 915 5555, or visit Help for residents who are self-isolating [ [link removed] ]

*Garden Waste*
You have ONE more garden waste collection in October and ALSO one more collection in November.
I know that many people are looking forward to the resumption of the Garden Waste service and I do thank everyone who has responsibly stored their waste at home. To keep on top of our garden waste, many of us have started composting, which is the most environmentally sound way of disposing of garden and vegetable waste and I really hope that Nottingham keeps composting. As we strive to be carbon neutral by 2028, every positive action will help.
Collections will start from next Tuesday - find out more about the service and what you can and cannot put in your brown bin here Garden Waste [ [link removed] ]

*Nottingham pilots zero-emission eCargo bikes *
e-bike
Im really keen for Nottinghams road to recovery to be green and todays announcement that the council has won 50,000 of Department of Transport funding for E-cargo bikes is great green step forward. eCargo cycles, a common sight around Europe, allow local businesses and citizens to cost effectively transport goods around the city quickly and importantly in an environmentally friendly way. The electric bikes are adapted to transport bulkier items, having a large compartment at the front.
The eCargo bikes will be incorporated into the council fleet and there will be opportunities for local businesses and organisations to pilot them too. Find out more: Council secures 50,000 funding to bring eCargo bikes to Nottingham [ [link removed] ]
