I am outraged that in the midst of an unprecedented global health crisis, your administration is advancing policies that will weaken health safeguards, make Americans sicker, and degrade our environment.

Your Environmental Protection Agency's gutting of clean car standards and plans to roll back lifesaving protections from mercury emissions will increase toxic air pollution. And the EPA's decision to give industry a free pass to stop monitoring and reporting dangerous air pollution as long as they use the pandemic as a reason will hurt us all — especially marginalized communities and communities of color — at the very moment that we need stronger health protections.
