Gov. Evers, First Lady Celebrate Hanukkah in Wisconsin |
|
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers and First Lady Kathy Evers today shared a video message wishing Wisconsinites a happy Hanukkah as families and individuals across the state celebrate the start of The Festival of Lights.
The governor and first lady’s video message is available here, and a transcript of the video message is available below.
Governor: Hey there, folks. Kathy and I want to wish a very, very happy Hanukkah to all those celebrating across our state.
First Lady: Every year, this eight-day celebration is a joyous time filled with lights, games, food, music, family, and friends.
Governor: And celebrating the light and resilience that the holiday of Hanukkah represents is as important as ever, especially given all that’s going on in the world today.
Governor: On behalf of Kathy and myself, we remain dedicated to creating a Wisconsin that stands against hate, celebrates diversity, and is inclusive of our Jewish friends and neighbors.
First Lady: That’s why Tony and I have been proud to host a Hanukkah celebration at the Executive Residence for the past six years to bring together Jewish leaders and community members to celebrate togetherness and light.
Governor: Because Hanukkah reminds all of us that through community, we can find hope and light even in the darkest of times.
First Lady: And there’s no doubt we could all use a little more joy, a little more compassion, and a little more light in this Hanukkah.
Governor: So, we hope that these next eight days are filled with making memories with those you love and with warmth and light.
First Lady: We wish you peace, prosperity, and joy during the Festival of Lights and always.
Governor: So, with that, Happy Hanukkah, Wisconsin, and take care, folks.
