John,
As we celebrate the holiday season and gather with family and friends, I want to take a moment to personally thank you for your incredible generosity this year. It’s no secret that 2024 has been a major year for us at the Innocence Project.
Renay Lynch became the 250th person freed or exonerated by the Innocence Project after spending nearly 26 years wrongly incarcerated; exoneree Termaine Hicks crossed “run the New York City Marathon” off of his bucket list; and we saw recent exonerees vote in a presidential election for the first time. You helped make all of this — and more — possible.
While we certainly had monumental wins, we can never forget Robert Roberson and Marcellus Williams.
Robert, an innocent father, was minutes away from being executed on Oct. 17th when an unprecedented legal move by a bipartisan group of Texas state legislators saved his life. But the fight for his freedom isn’t over yet.
And Marcellus was an innocent man who was executed on Sept. 24th in Missouri, after spending 24 years on death row. We are deeply thankful to the over 1 million supporters who stood with us in his fight for justice.
So, as this year comes to a close and we prepare for the fights ahead in 2025, John, I wanted to share this exclusive holiday message with you:
Thank you for being a part of the innocence movement, John.
