The Lincoln Project

Friend,

Here goes the big bad failed businessman again.

Donald Trump, who clearly thinks that every country out there is trying to screw the United States out of money, is at it again. The target this time? The Panama Canal.

Something that has been accounted for since the Carter Administration is suddenly a pressing problem. Trump claims that Panama is not “holding up their end of the deal”, and he even managed to rope in, you guessed it, China. You know, one of the countries he asked to help him rig the 2020 presidential election.

Operations are of course normal at the canal, and in our opinion, nothing has to change. But you know Trump’s motto: if it ain’t broke, still try to fix it, but in the process make it worse and piss everybody off.

And because he’s acting like the canal is another failing casino he wants to build, we’re not so sure that he isn’t looking for some kind of personal gain. Could the steak, airline, casino, watch, Bible, guitar “mogul” be looking to start his own cruise line and save on passage fees? Of course. We wouldn’t put anything past the world’s most notorious conman, and we’re sure that his mind is just full of bad business ideas.

But, if we were betting on it, we’d take the side of him just spewing stupid thoughts and not actually doing anything. As far as we can tell, there’s no plan in place, and this is just another Trump branded half baked idea that will end up wasting time and getting his cult riled up for no reason.

As Americans, we don’t tolerate incompetence. In fact, when we see something not working, we aim to cut it off. That’s our plan for this administration, which is off to an incompetent start. Help us hold this do-nothing crew accountable over the next four years >>
