John,

When I think of the holidays, I think of gratitude.

Being grateful to me means being thankful and appreciative of what we have and being appreciative of the value of others regardless of whether we directly interact with or relate to them.

Imagine if we could practice gratitude daily, especially with those different from ourselves.

Imagine if we could get back in touch with experiencing the goodness in others and valuing them.

That we may be a part of helping others heal.

Let us not be absent from our world, our community – not now when so many are in need of love, kindness, and compassion. Each of us is a gift to another. Thank you for the gift of you.

'Tis the season of tradition. 'Tis also the season for gathering and storytelling. May we seek to feed our hearts, spirits, and minds this holiday season, regardless of how or if you celebrate.

There is a wise Japanese proverb which states, “One kind word can warm three winter months.”

Let’s commit to be each other’s warmth for these next days, to get us into 2025 stronger together.

Chag Sameach. Merry Christmas. Happy Kwanzaa.

Betty
