Team,
Now juniors, Jack and Katie have started the process of visiting colleges, so we are entering an exciting phase for them. They participated again in the Agape Service Program in which they spent a week serving the farmworker community of Whatcom County and learning about social justice.
Due to the campaign schedule, Bob and Jack did not get as much time on the climbing trail as usual, but they look forward to making up for that this summer. Jack has developed a deep interest in all things history, and it's interesting to see what book is on his nightstand. As we write this, "The Guns of August" appears to be nearly finished and a biography of Alexander the Great is on deck. Jack was one of a handful of students selected for a summer MOHAI camp focused on local history which he really enjoyed.
Katie concluded another successful fastpitch softball season. Highlights included throwing a no-hitter in British Columbia and batting over .400. Her softball squad is a wonderful community of players, parents and coaches, so we feel lucky Katie is part of such a positive group. Katie has big tournaments coming up soon in Tucson and Las Vegas, so she and her teammates will be tested there for sure.
Colleen continues her work at Shoreline Community College. This year she traveled to parts of Central and South America, creating new study abroad opportunities and extolling the benefits of a community college education in beautiful Washington State to high school students and their families.
Our family is deeply appreciative of the amazing support from so many Washingtonians during the campaign. While his job is different, Bob will still be cheering Katie on at her many softball tournaments, climbing our highest peaks with Jack, and meeting his college buddies for beers on Tuesday nights.
Bob will miss the legal team at the Office of the Attorney General. Their work over the past twelve years on behalf of our State clients and the people has been, to put it mildly, very impressive.
Finally, Peter achieved his dream of becoming the First Cat of Washington and was the subject of a KUOW profile which called him a "low-key Instagram star." Follow him on Instagram.
Happy Holidays!
Bob, Colleen, Jack, Katie...and Peter!
